Mount St. Mary’s University is home to many successful leadership development programs, and students usually take advantage of more than one opportunity. The Institute for Leadership also sponsors events throughout the year which are open to all Mount students.

Martin Lancaster (D-NY, 1987 – 1995) - spent two days on campus visiting classes, meeting with students, faculty and the Mount community to share insights into the inner-workings of Congress and the current issues. The program included a evening panel discussion open to the public, and an informal discussion session with Mount friends and alumni.
October 3 and 4, 2011 - "Leadership, Liberty and the Liberal Arts."
Dr. Peter Josephson from Saint Anselm College conducted a series of workshops on-campus with faculty, students, and administrators. Dr. Josephson is a scholar of John Locke, and has recently managed a Department of Education $200,000 grant on the “learning liberty” initiative at Saint Anselm College. His knowledge and experience has helped various campus constituencies think about how to develop leadership programs on campus.
