Secondary Education Program Requirements
The secondary education social studies major leads to certifiation in grades 7-12 and requires the following courses:
EDUC 100, 208, 325, 343, 427, 433, 445, 485 and 495
PSCI 100, 212 and one elective in political science
12 credit hours in history in addition to the core requirements
This Maryland-approved program meets certification requirements in other states. Students are advised, however, to consult certification requirements in states of interest early in their study.
Secondary Education English, Foreign Language and Mathematics Majors
Secondary education programs in English, Foreign Language and Mathematics lead to certification in grades 7-12. Each student who plans to teach at the secondary level must have a content area major. In addition, the following professional courses are required:
EDUC 100, 208, 325, 343, 427, 434 or FLED 400, EDUC 445, 485, 495, and SPED 415.
