Reading Specialist Promotes Discussion
The Mount Welcomes National Expert

"Using Peer Discussion of Text to Promote Comprehension, Motivation and Social Skills"

A presentation offering a glimpse into K-5 classrooms in which teachers have learned to increase children’s comprehension as they engage in peer discussions of text. Dr. Almasi will share authentic video examples, excerpts from interviews with teachers, and research-based evidence on the cognitive, social, and motivational benefits of using peer discussion.

Dr. Janice F. Almasi, a former elementary school teacher and reading specialist. She is currently the Carol Lee Robertson Endowed Professor of Literacy Education at the University of Kentucky and an International Reading Association Board Member.
