A Beloved and Loyal Mountie Passes

A Beloved and Loyal Mountie Passes

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Reverend Monsignor F. Dennis Tinder, one of the longest serving members of our Board of Trustees.

This loyal and faithful son of Mount St. Mary’s, a graduate of the Class of 1964 and Seminary Class of 1968, passed away in his sleep over the weekend.  He was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS – often called Lou Gehrig’s disease).

Monsignor was to be awarded one of the University’s highest honors, an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity at our Commencement Exercises in May, 2010.  Plans will move forward to bestow this honor posthumously.

While final arrangements are still being planned, the Funeral Mass has been scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at his home parish:

Immaculate Conception Chapel
200 Ware Avenue
Towson, Maryland 21204

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.  And may perpetual light shine upon him. Amen

Thomas H. Powell
