Frequently Asked Questions about Residences How are first-year housing assignments made? We ask all students to complete a detailed questionnaire to help us make the most compatible matches (for example, “Are you a neat or messy person?” and “Are you quiet and reserved or loud and outgoing?”). You can also request a specific roommate. In fact, many current students requested to room with someone they met at Accepted Students Day in April or Student Orientation in June! In late July we mail out roommate names and addresses so students can introduce themselves and plan who’ll bring what. Can I bring an air conditioner? No. The only students able to bring air conditioners are ones who have been approved through our Special Housing process. there are a limited amount of spaces and approvals are granted to students with the most severe medical needs that substantially limit normal life functions. Students approved for air conditioners can only be housed in Sheridan or Pangborn Hall. The following forms need to be filled out in order to apply:Introduction Form, Form 1, Form 2, Form 3. If I like my room, can I keep it for the following year? It depends on where you live. Certain rooms are held for incoming first-year students and students with special housing needs. The housing lottery typically takes place in the middle of the spring semester. You will receive more information before the process begins. When I come to campus, what shoould I bring? What should I not bring? Please read What to Bring / What not to Bring. Does every resident have his/her own network connection? Yes! |
