Apartments, Annex, and Bicentennial:  2options

  1. Express Checkout
  2. Regular Checkout (with RA)

1.  Express Checkout

Students choosing Express Check Out must do the following: Obtain the Express Check Out form/envelope from your RA; Fill out and sign the form; Place room and hall keys in the attached envelope; Leave the card and keys with your RA or slide it under their door before departing campus.

Note:  Students understand, as stated on the Express Check Out card “...that by signing the Express Check Out form, I waive my right to appeal all charges associated with the condition of my room/apartment.”

2.  Regular Checkout

Students choosing Regular Checkout must sign up by Tuesday, May 5th for a 20 minute check out time on the Checkout Schedule with a Resident Assistant in your building - sign up sheets will be posted on the RAs' doors. Students who do not keep the time they signed up for will be charged $50.  Students must wait in their room for a RA to arrive.  Students are also given the opportunity to take responsibility for damages in their room.

During the 20 minute inspection, an RA from your building will come to your room/apartment and conduct an initial room inspection for your side of the bedroom (which must be completely empty of all belongings) using the Room Condition Report (RCR) form completed in August.  The initial room inspection will be followed up by later inspections by Residence Life staff - damage may be found in the later inspection which the resident(s) of the room is responsible for resitution of.  Residence Life will bill your room/apartment for all identified damages including those found after all students have checked out.

The common areas of your apartment/suite (i.e. kitchen, bathroom, living room) will not be completed on your RCR until the last person leaves.  It is very important that you help clean and prepare those common areas for checkout so as to make sure that all your roommates will be able to leave at the appropriate time or all residents will be charged for improper checkout.

After the bedroom inspection, keys must be turned in to the Public Safety Office, witht the exception of graduating seniors and commencement helpers.

Apartments - Graduating Seniors ONLY (3rd Option)

Final Apartment Checkout
Students choosing Final Apartment Checkout on Sunday, May 10th must sign up for a 20 minute check out time on the Checkout Schedule for your building with your Resident Assistant by Tuesday, May 5th.  Students who do not keep the time they signed up for will be charged $50.

For Final Apartment Checkout to be conducted, all belongings, trash and other items must be removed from the entire apartment/suite.  It must have been cleaned and all furniture completely returned to the set up from August.

During the 20 minute inspection, a staff member or RA from Residence Life will come to your apartment (which is already empty of all belongings) and conduct the room inspection using the Room Condition Report (RCR) you completed in August.  If your apartment failed to complete a RCR form, one will be completed based on the current condition of  your apartment.  The entire apartment including the common spaces in the apartment will be inspected.

All roommates still present will be checked out.  All roommates who do not make use of Regular Checkout or Express Checkout must be present at the Final Apartment Checkout.  There must be at least one resident present to complete a final apartment checkout.
