Office of the Dean of Students

Welcome students to the 2009-2010 academic year!

As your new Dean of Students, I cannot express enough how excited I am to be here at the Mount serving you and the campus community. The campus has been busy all summer preparing for the year ahead and we know we will share an exciting and productive time together.

I would like to make you aware of the changes we have made in our division this past summer. First, Community Service and Outdoor Adventures both have new directors and now fall under the same umbrella with Campus Activities led by Ken McVeary (formerly of Outdoor Adventures). We are excited to welcome Matt Liddle as the new Director of Outdoor Adventures and Jeff Abel (formerly of Residence Life) as the Director of Community Service. The purpose of this new organization is to create a stronger link between these programs thus creating a stronger opportunity for students to become engaged and to gain valuable leadership skills.

Another new initiative is the creation of the new Center for Student Diversity.  This new department combines the Third Century Scholar program and what was formerly known as the Office of Intercultural Development. Ty Perry, who was the director of the Third Century Scholars program will lead this new department with the support of a new advisory committee formed to develop this initiative to its greatest potential of serving the campus community.

Residence Life welcomes Brian Beccue as a new Assistant Director. Brian will oversee the Apartments and Terrace as well as focusing on RA staff training and development. Brian came to the Mount from Indiana State University and we are excited to have him on the Residence Life team.

Please take time to review all of the offices listed to the left of this website. Please remember that it is the responsibility of all students to read and abide by all policies listed in the Code of Conduct and Community Standards.

I am excited to meet all of you and invite you to contact me if you ever have any questions, comments or concerns. My office is located within the Office of Residence Life on the second floor of the McGowan Center.  Best of luck for the start of the semester!

Sincerely,

Michael Taberski
