ELEVATION - An International Mountaineering Trip to Ecuador Trip Description Imagine pushing yourself to your outer limits as you attempt to summit the world’s highest active volcano. During winter break 2009, CRUX in partnership with Alpenglow Expeditions, is proud to offer the Mount community a chance of a lifetime… an international mountain climbing trip to Ecuador. Ecuador is an amazing destination that is rich in culture and history. After exploring the capital city of Quito the group will move to the highlands in order to acclimate to altitude and learn the skills necessary to make a summit bid. At over 19,000 feet, the glaciated volcano known as Mt. Cotopaxi serves as the final challenge. Once you bag the peak, head to the town of Otovalo for some much needed pampering where there is also one of the largest indigenous markets in South America. Between the culture and climbing, this dynamic trip promises to be a surreal experience and memory for life.
