Women's Volleyball
The idea for a Club Volleyball team came to Noelle Holloway and Kaela Smeresky toward the end of their freshman year at the Mount. At the time, it was too late to start anything, but by the time fall of their sophomore year had rolled around, the girls decided to put their plan into action. They spoke with the coordinator of Club and Intramural Athletics, and started planning meetings, practices, and fundraising. The team has been practicing and competing regionally since October of 2007. With the team’s progression into the 2009 academic year, it will say goodbye to its original leaders. However, thanks to two years of hard work and with new leaders in place, the 2009-2010 future season should see new levels of competition and success. The Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Club Volleyball team aspires to be considered a competitive intercollegiate club team, and hope that someday their sport can be moved up to Division I competition. |
