Challenge Course Explanation

A challenge course is a series of initiatives and events posed to a group as challenges or problems and that take place out of the participant's normal daily context. Removing people from their comfortable environment encourages them to be themselves and to try something new and/or perhaps experiment with some new perspectives.

Because the initiatives push people's "comfort zones" and help them think outside the box, they naturally bring out issues that can be critical to a group's unified development.  Fundamental issues such as self-esteem, confidence, trust, cooperation, support, respect, responsibility, communication, decision making, goal setting, leadership, creative thinking, discovery of potential, appropriate risk taking and, of course, teamwork can arise repeatedly over the course of a session.

During a debrief after each activity, trained CRUX facilitators help groups bring to light and explore the issues, concepts, and even discoveries that arise along the way. The debrief allows participants to process their interaction objectively and internalize the lessons at hand. Through partaking in this shared experience, which challenges people mentally, pushes them physically, and empowers them socially participants bond in a fun context, develop a sense of teamwork, and even learn to maximize their personal effectiveness with basic life skills.
