Congratulations on making it to the final semester of college! The final semester can be tough to navigate as you simultaneously finish up school and prepare for your future. But don’t fear because the Career Center is here to help! Their most important job is helping students prepare for their lives after the Mount. Keep reading to learn how to utilize the Career Center during the final semester of your college career.

 

  • Take Advantage of Career Center Services: The Career Center offers one-on-one meetings, workshops, and seminars about various career-related topics. The staff can help you update your resume, write draft cover letters, network, connect with people on LinkedIn, and apply to jobs or graduate school.
  • Attend Career Center Events: Attend as many Career Center events as you can. The Career Center highly recommends attending their annual Career Fair, which will be held on Tuesday, February 13th from 3-5pm. A complete list of their spring events can be found on the Mount St. Mary’s Career Center website. Check it out!
  • Prepare for Interviews: Schedule a mock interview with the Career Center to prepare for upcoming job interviews on your calendar. Don’t wait until the last minute to schedule a mock interview because the Career Center books these quickly! Make sure that you have an interview outfit and portfolio to use for the mock interview and the actual interview. Also, if you have a phone or skype interview, consider reserving one of the Career Center’s interview rooms. They are quiet spaces that will help you focus during a phone interview.
  • Ring the Gong: When you find a job or are accepted into graduate school, come into the Career Center to ring the gong!
After graduation, keep in touch with the Career Center. They offer free career counseling services not only to Mount students, but also to Mount graduates and alumni. Utilize the Career Center’s services during the final semester of your college career and you will be well prepared for your future!
