We have educational events each year during earth week and at club days to share our message with the Mount community. We strongly support our campus recycling program, keeping our campus beautiful by keeping it litter-free, using cleaner burning fuels, using campus energy efficiently, and we believe that as a Catholic University we have a moral obligation to God to be stewards to the environment. Organization Activities: *Spring of 2007 à Changed the Styrofoam to-go containers to biodegradable to-go containers. Styrofoam will never decompose where as the biodegradable to-go containers will in about 2 weeks if the conditions are right. *Started Recycling on campus besides aluminum which was already on campus Upcoming Events: *Recycle Mania à Sunday January 27th to Saturday April 5th www.recyclemania.org *Earth Week à Sunday April 20th – Saturday April 26th *Events already planned for the week *Tuesday April 22nd – Strawberry Hill comes to Campus www.strawberryhill.org Strawberry Hill will do and event that includes bringing out animals like snakes, turtles, tarantula and others, as well as talk about the general ecology. *Wednesday April 23rd – The Inconvenient Truth showing in Purcell at 7pm *Thursday April 24th – “Climate Change Game” in Knott Aud. at 6pm *Saturday April 26th – Hike to Indian Lookout with Crux at 11pm-2pm Come out and see BANFF that Crux brought to campus at 7pm in Knott Other Events Coming Soon: *Selling Candy to save the Rainforest during Earth Week *Start up the Tree Walk on Campus *Get the Greenhouse up and running *Try to go to Emmitsburg Elementary School for Earth Week *To do expand the Cardboard Recycling Program started in 2007 If you have any questions or are interested in joining the club please email one of the Presidents and we will get back to you.
