Why the Mount?

My hometown is about 40 minutes from campus. It’s a tiny little town with lots of farmland and trees. Being the youngest of four children, it’s great to be able to go home every once in awhile and see my parents. Although I am close to home, I’ve never had a problem separating my home life and my life here at school. Being so close just allows me to see my friends from home and keep up with life there as well as here.

The first time I came to the Mount was in 8th grade. I spent a week here for soccer camp but I didn’t remember much about the campus. My next trip to the Mount was during my senior year of high school. This time, what struck me most about the school were the great views and landscapes. A pretty campus was a must for me. People may say the Mount is “in the middle of nowhere,” but that is one of its positive points! All around campus you can see the beauty of the area. The campus is especially pretty in the fall when the leaves are changing.
