Freshman Year As a freshman at the Mount, I kind of knew what to expect. I went to an all-male Catholic high school outside Washington, D.C. that was about the same size as the Mount. I could not wait to get here and meet everyone, learn everything, and just become completely engulfed in everything the Mount is about. There are many options and opportunities for every student—reflecting your personality. So far, I've joined the rugby team, become an editor of the school newspaper, The Mountain Echo, I'm also working for the yearbook, Pridwin, and I even have a weekly radio show on the Mount Radio Station, 89.9 FM, WMTB. I love my residence hall, my roommate, and everyone on my floor. Just like in high school, we have become one big family very fast! One of the great things is that you do not have to necessarily become best friends with your roommate, but if you do, that's just another plus! I was surprised how fast I felt right at home. Now, when I go to my actual home for breaks or just to visit, I find myself missing my life and home here at the Mount. I think it is due to the small, tight-knit, Catholic community that keeps us all so close. I never wanted to go to a huge state school where you are just a number. Here at the Mount, one of the many catchy mottos is "the place where everybody knows your name." It is true, without a doubt. I love meeting new people and it is just so easy! The friendly atmosphere and open community makes it second nature to make great friends and have a spectacular college experience. |
