Mr. Mount!

Without a doubt, this is the busiest month for me! Classes are at their toughest, and everything seems to be piling on at the same time. Luckily, others feel the same way (including professors) so we feel for each other!

This month was our huge Junior Class Fundraiser, the “Mr. Mount” competition. The event took place in Knott Auditorium on November 16. This event is basically a male beauty pageant—with clubs, sports teams and organizations choosing someone to represent them in the pageant. This year, the theme was “Movie Mania.” The contestants and their chosen escort dressed like their favorite movie character. The rounds they competed in were introductions, talent, formal wear, and complete-the-scene. My personal favorite talent was when Mr. Track and Field performed a ribbon dance to “The Circle of Life,” while wearing a pink leotard and tutu! The event took a lot of planning but all of the hard work paid off. The auditorium was packed, we raised a lot of money for class activities, and everyone thought the show was hilarious. Another awesome thing that happened this month was the Junior Class Ring Dance. Junior year is when you can order your Mount St. Mary’s University rings. The rings are designed by a group of juniors who are elected by the students as the “Ring Committee.” Ring day was November 12th. There was an afternoon mass in the Immaculate Conception Chapel for juniors and their families. Students received their rings, and then went to the Mount Café for a root beer float reception. Then, we all went back to eat dinner and get ready for the dance! It was tons of fun!
