Ireland! Ahhhh, I just love fall at the Mount. All of the leaves up on the mountain change colors (see pictures!) the weather cools down, and the best part of all … fall break! Not all colleges are lucky enough to have a weeklong break in mid-October. During my freshman year, I went home during fall break to catch up with family and friends. Last year, I went on a service trip with the Mount to Philadelphia. This year, I went to Ireland! It was my first time out of the country. The Mount sponsors study abroad programs, and this semester the program was in Dublin. Many of my friends were there for the entire semester, and we missed them terribly! My friends Katie, Anna, Cara, Andy, Alex and I flew to Ireland for the weeklong break. Four other Mounties who were visiting their friends in Ireland over break as well, and just happened to be on our flight, also joined us! We stayed in a hostel in Dublin that was right near the Mount students’ apartments and home stays. We went sightseeing every day, and also took a bus to the west coast of the country to tour Galway and the famous Cliffs of Moher. One day, we went with the Mount students on their field trip to the Powerscourt Gardens and Glendalough. The trip was amazing and it was really nice to see what life was like for the students studying abroad those three months. Other recent highlights include a Junior Class Trip to Six Flags, and the Fall Retreat. Classes and responsibilities are definitely getting harder as the semester continues. |
