International students must be sponsored by a diocese or religious order prior to application to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary.
Applicants should contact the Seminary Registrar as soon as possible, if needing to:
- Receive an initial I-20 in order to apply for an F-1 Non-Immigrant Student Visa
- Transfer their I-20/SEVIS record from another school within the United States
- Change from a different visa status to an F-1 Student Visa
Please note that an I-20 will not be issued until the applicant has been accepted by the Seminary. It is therefore very important to complete the Seminary application form and submit all related materials to the Seminary Admissions office as soon as possible. The time needed for processing the F-1 Student Visa can vary (applicants should contact the Embassy or Consulate in their home country). For further information see the International Student Visa webpage.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Any applicant whose native language is not English must submit TOEFL scores with their application. English language support is available at the Seminary, but it is expected that any seminarian applying for an F-1 Student Visa will have sufficient level of English proficiency to enroll in the Ordination Formation program.
For more information about the English proficiency test, see the TOEFL Website.
