
Dan S. Soller Executive Vice President of the University The Executive Vice President is the Chief Operating Officer of the University and is responsible for assisting the President in providing institutional direction and leadership to all administrative areas. He has broad institutional authority on matters of policy and serves ex-officio on all administrative committees of the University. Dan also has direct oversight for Division I Athletics, Auxiliary Services, Student Affairs, and a number of major Institutional Offices. A highly experienced and successful higher education executive, Dan returned to Mount St. Mary’s in 2004 after an almost twenty year absence, having served at the Mount in the 1980s. Before returning to the Mount, he most recently served as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of La Roche College, where he oversaw the college administration and development of enrollment, finance, student life and human resources. He led the Catholic institution to record student enrollment and played a key role in the expansion of the campus during his decade of service.
Dan’s career has also included senior leadership positions at The Catholic University in Washington, DC, and at Farleigh Dickinson University in NJ. Widely traveled, Dan has received a number of educational grants through the years that has allowed him to visit diverse countries in such places as Eastern Europe and Africa. He counts his travels as his “greatest education”, believing that world travel opens the “educational possibilities and human realities” in a far greater and faster way than any other endeavor. His most recent travels have included trips to Kiev, Rome and Munich, respectively. Dan’s interests include his life long commitment to the martial arts. An accomplished karate instructor, he teaches students in the USA and around the world. In 1981, Soller founded the Phoenix Karatedo Association Kyokushinkaikan, an organization dedicated to the traditional and educational values of karate. His teachings place a special emphasis on student potential and development. He continues to serve the association as Chairman & Chief Instructor, while teaching classes at the University. His personal training remains important to him and he appreciates the joys and interactions that come with teaching students.
