Students Get Lesson in Economics With Lemonade Stands Reported by: WHAG's Jacqueline Waite EMMITSBURG, MD - A group of second graders got a lesson in economics Thursday using lemonade stands.
The lemonade was part of an economics lesson taught to the second graders by Mount St. Mary's University students.
They learned the basics of business, then split into groups to see which stand could make the most money.
Many of the students adapted their own marketing strategies.
"We all agreed that instead of 50 [cents] we would have a lower price so that we could get more customers," said Alex Hoffman, one of the elementary students.
The second graders will take the money they earned and donate it to a charity of their choice.
