Serving the Environment Mount students took part in one of the largest tree-plantings the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has ever organized. Mount Professor Timothy Wolfe and his Environmental Crime class joined dozens of volunteers in early November and planted over 1,400 trees and shrubs along a creek in Adamstown, MD. The tree-planting was part of a water-shed plan to shade the stream during the warm summer months, conserve run-off and provide the area with natural nutrients to support area wildlife. “It connects the theoretical with the practical and helps them learn,” says Wolfe. “It engages them. Students like to do hands-on activities. Getting out of the classroom and into the real world is interesting and even fun.” The tree planting is part of the many service projects offered here at the Mount.
