Mount Graduate - Awarded by Lilly Foundation Emmitsburg, MD – Mount St. Mary’s University congratulates John Laracy ’08 who was awarded the Lilly Foundation Fellowship for graduate studies. Each year, the Lilly Graduate Fellows Program selects a cohort of 15 fellows who are entering Ph.D. or equivalent graduate programs in humanities and arts at schools of their choosing. The 2008-2011 Lilly Graduate Fellows will enter graduate school in the fall, 2008. Over a three year period, these fellows, along with two senior mentors, will communicate and collaborate with each other in areas of research, teaching, and professional development. Graduate Fellows will receive 3 annual $3,000 stipends for use at the Fellows’ discretion. John Laracy now holds a Mount degree in both Philosophy and English. During his undergraduate career, John was active in Tolle Lege, the student journal of theology and philosophy, and the Mount's philosophical society. He is set to continue his studies in theology with an eventual Ph.D. in Philosophy. “It was a great experience flying out to Indianapolis to meet the selection committee and other finalists,” says John Laracy. “When I found out I was selected as one of the fifteen winners, I was honored.” The 2008-2011 program will reach completion in the fall, 2011, with the introduction of the Graduate Fellows to representatives of the Lilly Fellows Program National Network.
