What's Next for the Class of 2008

On May 11, 2008 376 members of the Mount's Bicentennial Class graduated and headed out into the real world.  Some are beginning careers while others will attend graduate school or do volunteer work.

The following seniors shared their post-graduation plans: 

“This September, I will be working with Reznick Group. an accounting firm in Baltimore, as a staff auditor.” –Tierra Brown-Miles

“I am a criminal justice major and as of this moment I don't have any official jobs lined up after graduating. However I have an application in with the Department of Homeland Security ICE division for a position as a Special Agent. I have passed the written exam for this and I am awaiting more paperwork to fill out before I go into for the personal interviews. I am aiming to get into this position.” –Daniel Phelan

“I have a paid internship lined up at NBC25 in Hagerstown, MD for the summer which could lead to a permanent position.” -Theresa Zaepfel

“I got a job with the FBI and will probably be relocating from Baltimore to D.C. or Northern Va”. –Julie Ascosi

“I am interviewing with Frederick County Public Schools and hope to land a job there. I am a senior elementary education major.” –Brandt Ensor

“I will be moving back home to southern Maryland after graduation.  However, I will be starting as an audit associate at KPMG in DC.  I will be in the federal practice.  This means that I will be auditing the federal government.” –Jessica Newsome

“I have accepted a job offer at Walter Reed Medical Facility in Washington DC, doing research on soundwave therapies on injured soldiers."  –Shane Crowl

“I have been hired to become a Maryland State Trooper.  I will be in the 132nd academy class training in Sykesville Maryland, and report to the academy May 11th at 4 pm.  I will live at the academy for 25 weeks and then could be assigned to any barrack in Maryland.  My major is in criminal justice.” –Benjamin Whitmore

“I will be moving home at least for next year. My major is elementary education and right now I do not have a job lined up but am looking for a position as a paraeducator in Howard County.” –Emily Dwyer

“After graduation, I will be employed by Reznick Group in Baltimore as an Audit Associate starting in September.  Since I am originally from Delaware, I will be relocating to Baltimore at the end of the summer.” –Alex Cuga

“I am moving home, I don't have a job yet, but I am looking to pursue a career in sports marketing.  My major is business with a concentration in marketing.” –Marie Graney

“As of right now, I do not have a job lined-up but I have had interviews.  I am an education major.  I am from Delaware, but am relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina in July.  My roommate and I have an apartment lined-up.” –Courtney McEntee

“After graduation I am heading to graduate school. Starting this fall I will be attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Public and International Affairs. I am pursuing a Masters in public and international affairs with a concentration in security and intelligence studies. Upon completion of my Masters I am seeking employment with the federal government with an agency either in federal law enforcement or intelligence.” - Brian Bauer

“I have an elementary school teaching job with Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia. I will be moving down to Ashburn, Va after graduation.” –Amanda Weber

“I am a political science major. After graduation, I will be attending Albany Law School in the fall.” -Anna Binau

“As of July 1st I will be in the active duty Army, and by December be moved to Germany for the next several years. I am a business major, but as a member of ROTC on campus my future was essentially planned for me.” –Anna Lebo

“I will be doing volunteer work as a missionary. I am a theology major, education minor.”  -Ashton Mallon

“I am a business major, and am relocating to Raleigh, NC and where I will be working as a credit manager for Wells Fargo Financial.” -Brian Smith

“I majored in biology and minored in both chemistry and French. After graduation, I will be leaving my current part-time job doing research at USAMRIID and will be moving to North Carolina where I will attend graduate school in the fall. I am enrolled in the umbrella Biological and Biomedical Sciences PhD program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I plan to matriculate into the Microbiology and Immunology PhD program. Before I begin graduate school, I will be marrying the love of my life, Stuart Neighbours, on June 28th this summer.” –Lauren Neville

“I have a job as a senior account manager at a consulting firm. I will be relocating to Hagerstown, MD after graduation.” –Katie Bushong

“I have a major in business and a minor in economics and history. I have taken a job at Ft. Detrick in Frederick working with contracts in the Army Medical Research Acquisitions Activity. I will also be completing my MBA at the Mount.” –Abby Diffenderfer

“I am a sociology major and I will be joining the AmeriCorps. In the AmeriCorps I will be working for City Year in Philadelphia.  I will not be relocating because I live right outside the city.   I will be entering graduate school after working for them for a year to get my Masters in physical/forensic anthropology.” –Blair Aiken

“I have accepted employment at KPMG in Baltimore in their tax department as a staff accountant. I will be living at home in Westminster, MD until I have accumulated a down payment for a home.” -Craig Brown
