At your service is a trained medical staff consisting of Medical Director, Dr. Bonnie Portier, DO and Nurse Manager, Susan Sanders, LPN. Services: Below are just a few of the many heath services provided to all undergraduates and seminarians: - Evaluation and treatment of injury or illness
- Allergy injections
- Education: nutrition, health concerns, wellness and prevention
- Immunization clinics
- Management of chronic disease or disability in collaboration with student’s primary care provider
- Medications: most medications prescribed by the doctor are available on site
- Medication monitoring when indicated
- Pregnancy testing
- Referrals to specialists as needed
All undergraduate students and seminarians are eligible to use Health Services regardless of their insurance preference. Health Services itself does not accept insurance, although students are required to be insured. A student should have health insurance for diagnostic testing outside Health Services or in the case of an emergency. There are no fees for routine visits to Health Services, although there is a nominal fee for medications, allergy injections and diagnostic tests. Payment methods include cash, check or declining balance using the student’s Mount card. Any services received outside Health Services such as x-rays or lab services are the responsibility of the student. A new service to the Wellness Center and available to our students during regular business hours, is the "Medicine Cabinet." This service offers "one-time" doses of many over the counter (OTC) medications to the students after being evaluated by the nurse. Graduate students have the option of paying a student health fee each semester if they desire to use Health Services. Call Health Services for more details at 301-447-5288. Clinic Hours: There is a health care provider available to see students on a walk-in or appointment basis for routine visits during the hours of 9:00 am til 11:30 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Wednesday from 2:30 pm til 5:00 pm; the nurse is on duty from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm daily. Our general office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am til 5:00 pm. Medical Emergencies: In an emergency or life-threatening situation, please call 911 as well as Public Safety at x8111. If you have an urgent medical problem when the Wellness Center is closed, there are several options: - FMH Immediate Care, located at 850 Oak Street in Frederick, Maryland. They are open 7 days a week. Directions and hours are available on their website.
