Counseling Services policies for Mount students Counseling Services Policies Counseling Services, located within the Wellness Center, provides individual, couple and small group counseling to all full-time undergraduate students at the Mount. Consultation and outreach services are provided for Mount faculty, staff and student organizations. Mount St. Mary’s University Counseling Services does not provide personal counseling through email or other electronic means. If you are not a Mount student and are seeking personal counseling, please consult a local mental health professional for assistance. General Information The staff of Counseling Services is available for programs on a variety of mental health issues. Counselor Linda Donovan, LCSW-C, brings almost 20 years of counseling experience to the Mount community. Free, confidential individual and group counseling is available for all undergraduate students and all full-time graduate students concerning: - Relationships, troubles with family, friends or romantic partners
- Difficulties arising from diversity issues
- Major and/or career decision making
- Problems with food and nutrition
- Misuse of alcohol and other drugs
- Stress resulting from academic and/or social pressures
- Troublesome feelings such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, shyness, fear and anger
- Loss of a loved one or other bereavement
- Sexual assault or harassment
Regardless of what type of emotional difficulties the student is experiencing, concerned and understanding counselors are available at the Counseling Center. Crisis Services During office hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.), please call 301-447-5288. If you need assistance after office hours or on weekends, please contact your RA or the assistant director of campus life who is on call. If additional assistance is required, the RA or the ADCL will contact the mental health professional on duty. If you are a current client of Counseling Services, you may contact Public Safety at x4230 and ask that the mental health professional on call be contacted and your call will be returned. |
