Gender Studies MinorDirector: Dr. Maureen Oakley (Political Science)
The interdisciplinary minor in gender studies supports the mission of Mount St. Mary’s by helping students understand and anticipate social change. By examining how gender constructs affect the lives of men and women and how gender roles have changed over time, students can better understand a key factor that drives both change and continuity in our culture.
The minor consists of six courses (18 credits). See the list below. Students may request the Gender Studies Steering Committee to approve credit toward the minor for courses not included in this list. To be considered, such requests must have prior approval from the course instructor and must document that the student’s work will include significant elements of gender studies.
