| Campus Emergency Management Plan In the event of an emergency that indicates a severe risk to the safety of our campus community, the campus emergency management plan will be implemented. The following is a summary of the emergency response measures. The complete plan is on file with the director of Public Safety.
Protective Measures I. Safety and Security A. The university will suspend normal working operations until the office of public safety informs the campus that conditions are stable. B. The university will cancel any planned curricular and/or co-curricular activities until the office of public safety informs us that we can return to them. C. For their safety, we encourage students, faculty, administrators and staff to remain on campus and inside until more information on the alert is available. D. Resident students and seminarians will be instructed to return to their campus rooms and apartments. E. The student affairs staff will identify residents who are present and continue to monitor the list throughout the alert. F. The dean of students at the seminary will initiate a similar procedure to account for the seminarians. G. Commuter students and faculty, administrators and staff who choose not to stay in their work areas will be instructed to go to Patriot Hall. H. The north and south gates will be locked. All traffic in and out of the university will be monitored through the front entrance. I. If conditions permit, the president will authorize a community prayer service in the chapel. II. Communications A. Students, faculty, administrators and staff are encouraged to monitor television and radio for national information. B. Students, faculty, administrators and staff are encouraged to monitor email and the university home page for community announcements. C. The student affairs staff will serve as an information resource for students about housing issues and updates on the alert status and address personal r request/needs as possible. D. The campus community will work to keep communication flowing during this time. III. Alert Continuation A. Faculty, administration, staff and students will not leave sheltered areas until Public Safety officials say it is safe to do so. B. Everyone will be encouraged to conserve water during the emergency. C. Faculty, administrators, staff and students are asked to maintain sanitary conditions as effectively as possible during the emergency. |
