Plumber (Job Search Status:  Currently Accepting Applications)

Min. Pay Rate:  $11.70

Essential Position Functions: Plumbing

Installs and repairs all types of domestic and commercial plumbing fixtures.  Performs repair and installation of high and low pressure steam systems.  Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating water supply and waste disposal system.  Performs oil burner maintenance.  Works with gas fired boilers and pneumatic controls.  Performs electrical connections and disconnections.  Repairs all types of pumps.  Assist with repairs in water/waste distribution and collection system.

Marginal Functions: 
1. Assists with snow removal as needed.
2. Other mechanical maintenance job related duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of hydronic and steam heating systems imperative.
2. Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
3. Knowledge of gas fired boilers and pneumatic controls.
4. Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the College Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ability to read, write and follow directions.
2. Four years plumbing experience or a journeyman license required.
3. Valid Driver’s license.
4. Overtime may be required.

Position Location:
Physical Plant Mechanical Maintenance Shop; various areas around campus.

Equipment Used:
Basic plumbing hand and power tools.  Pipe cutter, solder gun, cutting torch.

Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
2. Must be able to climb ladders.
3. Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Supervision:
Supervises student aides and summer temporary helpers.
