Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor (Job Search Status: Currently Accepting Resumes) Minimum Pay Rate: $11.70/hour
Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week, weekends Essential Position Functions:
Supervisory Responsibilities Trains and supervises all mechanical maintenance and central plant employees. Assigns tasks and inspects work in progress and completed work for conformance to standards, specifications and adherence to codes. .Interprets specifications, schematics and blueprints. Solicits bids for equipment/material as required in the operation of Physical Plant. Solicits bids from outside contractors to provide services/repairs beyond the capabilities of the maintenance staff or due to regulatory requirements (i.e. inspections for pressure vessels, fire alarms, sprinkler systems etc.). Sets work schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for job assignments. Identifies, researches and requests material supplies. Maintains computer operated environmental control systems. Responsible for providing a safe work environment for the employees under supervision by implementing and enforcing the safety procedures of the University’s Safety Policy. Marginal Functions:
1. Performs HVAC and electrical repairs as needed. 2. Assists in completion of special projects as directed. 3. Installs HVAC systems and smoke/fire detection equipment as needed. 4. Assists with snow removal. 5. Other job related duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge:
1. Ability to read blueprints and specifications. 2. Knowledge of pneumatic controls and motor control centers. 3. Knowledge of HVAC and electrical. 4. CFC certification required. 5. Computer experience required. 6. Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University’s Safety Policy which apply to the work environment. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ability to read, write and follow instructions. 2. One year supervisory experience. 3. Five years experience in specified trade. 4. Valid driver’s license. 5. CFC/Maryland license for HVAC/R work. 6. Overtime may be required. Position Location:
Physical Plant, Mechanical Maintenance Shop; and various areas around campus. Equipment Used:
Basic maintenance hand and power tools; electrical test meters, etc. Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 2. Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights. 3. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Supervision:
Supervises mechanical maintenance staff (2 Plumbers, 2 Electricians, 1 HVAC technician, 2 preventive Maintenance technician, Boiler room crew, 1 Locksmith/Floater, and temporary helpers.).
