Instructor of MusicThe Department of Visual & Performing Arts of Mount St. Mary's University announces an opening for a one-year, non-tenure-track position in music. Duties include directing wind ensemble, directing jazz ensemble, teaching music courses, and teaching courses in the core curriculum. Courses will include either music history survey or upper-level music theory (depending on expertise), a general course in Western civilization in the Humanities core curriculum, and other courses as suit the instructor’s schedule and interests (e.g., music education methods, jazz/popular music history). Qualifications: Masters degree required. Doctorate or ABD strongly preferred. Experience or training in directing band and/or jazz ensemble. Collegiality, energy, and awareness/appreciation of music pedagogy in a Catholic liberal arts setting.
