Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for promoting Mount St. Mary’s University and participating in all recruitment activities of the Admissions Office; both on and off campus. These activities include, but are not limited to, high school visits, college fairs, and programs held on campus, such as open houses, financial aid workshops, group presentations, etc. 

MAJOR TASKS:

1.  Management of assigned recruitment regions/markets in an effort to promote the university.  Region/market management will include, but not be limited to 8-10 weeks of overnight travel, developing school/guidance counselor relations, high school visits, and follow-up with prospects and applicants, interviewing students, group presentations, and reviewing applications for admission. 

2.  Coordinate campus student recruitment program(s) as assigned by Director of Recruitment.

3.  Assist with and participate in all campus recruitment student recruitment programs.

4.  Review and evaluate admissions applications for assigned region/market.

5.  Conduct individual interviews with prospective students and their parents.

6.  Along with other Admissions Officers, work as a team player to develop and implement new strategies to attract sufficient applicants.

7.  Other duties as assigned.

MINOR TASKS:

1.  Conduct correspondence with prospective students and other audience as appropriate.

2.  Assist with general administrative responsibilities for the Admissions Office.

3.  Keep current on all aspects of MSMU, especially academic, social, religious, and athletic programs and events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree with good communication and interpersonal skills.  Should be able to relate to and work well with a variety of people, and to work well both independently and as part of a team.  Must be able to articulate the values of a Catholic, liberal arts education.  Valid driver's license.
