EXPERIENTIAL COMPONENT OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE MAJOR The environmental science major is unique among the majors in the science department in that it requires an experiential component. This requirement can be fulfilled by completing an internship, undergraduate research project or an independent study. This experience has several benefits. It provides hands-on experience in environmental science a chance to explore career plans opportunities to make professional contacts in the field application of classroom learning to real-world environmental problems
