Program Standards

Candidates preparing to work in schools as teachers or other professional school personnel are expected to meet standards for the program for which they are enrolled.  These standards are integrated within the experiences and assessments that are completed throughout a course of study.  Click on the link below to view the specific program standards.

Additional Standards in Education

In addition to program standards, the education unit must ensure that the Unit as well as its candidates meet multiple standards.  The Unit, through its assessment system, monitors the ways in which the NCATE Standards are met.  In collaboration with partners in our professional development schools, the unit works to meet the Maryland PDS Standards.  In addition to their program standards, all initial certification candidates are expected to meet the Maryland Teacher Technology Standards (MTTS) and the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium Standards (INTASC).
