Volunteer Opportunities

From Father Jack Lombardi, Grotto Chaplain:

The Grotto relies on a lot of love. The Grotto generates love. One volunteer who is a savvy nurse has donated hundreds of hours to the Grotto in the last year on her days off. Another volunteer is a pregnant mom—with the tenth on the way—who drives over our mountain a few times a week to pray, rake leaves, worship and lead singing at Mass. Last week while giving a retreat for eighth graders, I relied on a seminarian, a family counselor, a home-schooled youth who pilgrimaged to India this past summer, and two Mount St. Mary’s University students to give talks. Thing was: they were all eager and “at hand”—no hard time on my part thinking of who to ask. Mary attracted them and gave them to this chaplain for help. The Grotto generates love!

One volunteer made our beautiful outside confessional; another just sent beautiful pictures of the Grotto for our use; and still others donate lots of time, talent and treasures to further the Grotto’s mission. The Grotto generates love! Recently I met Rich, a New Yorker who just moved down here, and he eagerly offered his excellent film-making services for us to make a film of the Grotto. And we have a delightful crew of eager altar servers.

I am thankful for all who volunteer at the Grotto. Come visit or contact me if you would like to offer your help or support.
