Elementary Education/Special Education Degrees


Earn your Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in the evenings in FrederickThis program appeals most to individuals who have worked in educational settings, but not as teachers, or have the desire to work with young children in the early phases of learning.

Teachers make a difference. The Mount’s Bachelor of Science degree will prepare you to earn your Maryland State certification, putting you in a position to make a difference. The program integrates liberal arts with the technical and managerial skills required to promote learning in the classroom and on an individual level. Our tiered program of study builds on the cornerstone of a liberal arts education, through foundational education coursework, culminating with the internship teaching experience. Our calling is to help you realize yours. The Mount is the right choice to finish your degree.

Students are expected to complete 25 percent of their class work through independent study. Some education courses are now offered in consecutive week sessions.

Admission Requirements:

  • Must be 23 years of age and have worked full-time for three or more years or
  • Must have completed 30 or more undergraduate credits
  • Obtained a grade point average of 2.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale in previous college work (will need 2.75 to take 300 level education courses)
