A Letter from the Mount Annual Fund Co-Chairs 

Dear Mounties,

Spring is here and the campus is very busy.  In less than 2 weeks, May 16, Commencement takes place and we will graduate 346 new Mount alumni.  Less than a month later (June 4 – 6) is class reunion weekend.  At least for the “younger,” which is a relative term, of these authors, it will be his 40th reunion.  During this reunion weekend, on June 5, the Mount will dedicate its Veterans’ Walkway.  Over the summer, the Mount will be host to thousands who will attend sports camps, workshops, retreats, or just visiting the Grotto.

As we close the Mount’s fiscal year (June 30), this is a great time to consider your giving opportunities.  We depend upon your generosity to keep the Mount a strong, committed, Catholic university.  Economically, 2008 – 2009 has been a very tough time for our nation and for many of us as individuals.  But, our commitment to our students cannot be put on hold and, that commitment, costs money.  To make ends meet, to balance our budget, to keep us financially healthy, your donations to the Mount, including the Annual Fund, are vital. 

As of June 7, our Annual Fund is only slightly behind last year, which given the economic turmoil, looks really good.  But, we are only at 85% of our $2.2-million goal, and participation is only 15.86%.  Think of it as the 4th quarter, the last period, the final inning, the “home stretch” of a really important Mount sports event.  If you were in the audience, you would be cheering, rooting, yelling, and supporting your team.  Pat and I are asking you to put yourself in those seats and, please, support the Mount.
