The Love and Mercy of God
“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love.”
Psalm 145: 8
Through Lent we prepare for the coming of the risen Lord. It is a time of prayer and struggle to understand what Jesus went through in His passion, death, and resurrection. Even when we sacrifice something in Lent we remember the Psalm that I have chosen to reflect on. It is important to realize that God is merciful. He loves us so much that even when we fail or sin, He is willing and ready to forgive us because He has created us in His love. He is gracious in not showing scorn or humiliating us when we do wrong that way we know that He is abounding in love. The Lord is always there to help us and forgive us but we must make an effort to understand his love. It shows God we are making the effort to love and serve Him. So remember during Lent to always know that the Lord is a forgiving God. Whenever I receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, I am shown the mercy of God. It is amazing to know that whatever you have done that has offended God that it is forgiven when the priest who is representing God says that your sins are forgiven. It gives me a clean slate and it shows me that God is all loving and wants everyone including myself to join Him in Heaven.
Lord, help me to always understand Your Mercy especially during the season of Lent.
Through Your mercy, allow me to try to never sin again. Amen.
