Waiting to Be Healed
“Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk!” John 5: 8
In today’s Gospel we hear the story about a sick man who is healed by Jesus. The man had been lying for thirty eight years near the pools the Jerusalem waiting to feel the water’s healing touch. The man had no one to help place his body into the healing waters. Jesus knew that the man had been waiting a long time and asked the man if he wanted to be healed. The man explained his situation to Jesus told him to go pick up his mat and walk. Jesus also tells the man to take care of himself and to sin no more. The Jews were upset when they heard that Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath.
In our lives how many times do we overlook or ignore people like the sick man in the gospel? Jesus calls us to bring our brothers and sis-ters to Him and His healing power. Today, ask Jesus to show you the neglected people in your life and ask for the grace to help lead them to Christ.
Oh Lord, make me aware of the people in my life who may need my help in order to reach your healing presence. Amen.
