Historic Class Graduates
376 members of the Bicentennial Class of 2008 received their undergraduate degrees on Sunday, May 11. Archbishop O'Brien, of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, gave the commencement address.

Seminary Alum to Lead Campus Ministry Program
Fr. Brian Nolan, S'01, has been selected as the new director of Campus Ministry and Campus Chaplain. He will join the Mount this summer.


John Laracy, '08 Awarded the Lilly Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Study
The Lilly Graduate Fellows Program annually selects a cohort of 15 fellows who are entering Ph.D. or equivalent graduate programs in humanities and arts at schools of their choosing.

Best Buddies Maryland Names Mount Most Improved Chapter
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Senior Blair Aiken was nominated for Best Chapter Buddy Director.


New Curriculum Guide "Here on Mary's Mountain"
Professors Suzie Henning, Barbara Onofrey and Laura Frazier collaborated with 15 Mount students to design a new curriculum guide for K-12 educators. The project, part of a Callings Program grant, teaches students more about the Mount and the rich history of the surrounding community. 


Congratulations to the Mount’s Students in Free Enterprise Team
Our Mount SIFE Team was victorius in regionals...now they head to Chicago for nationals...Go Mount!!

Seminary Vespers and the Conferral of Academic Degrees
Conferral of Seminary academic degrees was held on Friday, May 2, 2008, in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on the feast day of St. Athanasius. Msgr. Stuart Swetland, Vice President for Catholic Identity and Mission and Director of the Pre-Theology Program, was awarded a Bicentennial Medal by President Powell.


49th Mount Graduate to be Appointed Bishop
Reverend Monsignor James D. Conley, S’85 has been appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Denver, adding to our Cradle of Bishops.

Mary the Focus of Fall Symposium
October 9-11, 2008
The Marian Symposium will include nationally renowned theologians and academics who will address various Marian topics such as Mary in Scripture, Mary in Catholic Doctrine and Spirituality and Marian Teaching of Pope Benedict XVI.

ATHLETICS >

Two Mount Teams Honored in Latest NCAA APR Report
The NCAA released publicly their latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores through the 2006-07 school year. All 19 of the Mount’s varsity sports are above the acceptable range and two teams, baseball and women’s tennis, were honored by the NCAA for being in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
