| The Mount Goes to the Dance! Congratulations to the Men's Basketball Team, 2007-08 NEC Tournament Champions, on their third trip to the NCAA Tournament. Mount Director of Sports Information, Mark Vandergrift, says his cell phone has never been busier then it was the past two weeks! Stories about the Mount were published in newspapers around the world. Coach Milan Brown also just had his contract extended for five years.

Hot off the Press The Mount is buzzing with activity this spring! NBC Nightly News will air a story on the seminary this week, EWTN is filming on campus, Coach Phelan made it into the Collegiate Hall of Fame and the Mount is gearing up for the Pope’s visit to America. See other news here.

Bicentennial Stamped Card Dedication Ceremony and Maryland Symphony Orchestra Concert April 26, 2008 8 p.m., Athletic Recreation Convocation Center The Mount presents, as part of the dedication of the United States Postal Stamped Card, a performance by the MSO, the Mount Chorale and Pianist John Wickelgren. The all-Beethoven program will feature two major works, particularly the Fifth Symphony which premiered in 1808. Admission is free but you must have tickets to attend. Call the Mount Ticket Office at 301-447-5700 for general admission tickets.

President Thomas H. Powell Addresses Students About the Issue of Drug and Alcohol Abuse President Powell's message to students about this critical issue urges students to remember the Mount's Code of Conduct and that "like all families, we have responsibilities to each member. Chief among these is to keep each other safe."

Putting the Environment First: A National Program Will Learn from the Mount The Mount has been accepted as a pilot school in the nation’s American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment and the Clinton Climate Initiative. The university has been accepted into an elite group of schools who will work towards creating a standard for a responsible financial plan for paying for changes on campuses.

Public Art Project: Students Give Underpass a Makeover The university's Rt. 15 underpass tunnel will no longer be plain and dark thanks to students in art professor Elizabeth Holtry's mural painting class.

History Students Present Papers at National Convention Mount senior Joe Vigliotti and junior Beth Kitchin, meet distinguished historians and present their own research papers.

Students Awarded Prestigious Scholarship Christine Wroge, a junior biochemistry major, has recently been named a 2008 Barry M. Goldwater Scholar. Sophomore Haley Blevins was recognized with the SMART Scholarship.

New Campus Chaplain Returns to his Roots Fr. Brian Nolan, a 2001 graduate of the Mount’s Seminary, has been selected as the new Campus Chaplain and director of Campus Ministry.

MCPA Wins National Award The American Association of College Personnel recently named the Maryland chapter (MCPA) the 2008 Outstanding State/International Division. The MCPA is led by the Mount's Dean of Students Mike Post. The award recognizes the outstanding state whose work (membership services and interests, professional issues, outreach and advocacy, professional development, generation and dissemination of knowledge) best reflects the ACPA's core values.

Good News on the Seminary Annual Fund Front! As of March 31, $250,000 has been raised. The $300,000 goal for the 2007-2008 Seminary Annual Fund is within sight! All gifts, no matter what amount, are really appreciated. The Mount’s fiscal year ends June 30--please participate! Rector Msgr.
