The Mount Takes the Cake Don't forget to tune in to see the Mount on Food Network's Ace of Cakes, Thursday, March 13 at 10:00 p.m. Watch the crafty cake makers of Charm City Cakes recreate the famous Mount cupola ... So now - how do we top that? SEND US suggestions for cake designs that will make a fitting tribute for the Bicentennial finale in October. If we can design it, Charm City Cakes can make it. So, stretch your imagination and help us find the perfect way to top off the end of this spectacular year of celebration.

Bicentennial Stamped Card Dedication Ceremony and Maryland Symphony Orchestra Concert April 26, 2008 8 p.m., Athletic Recreation Convocation Center The Mount presents, as part of the dedication of the United States Postal Stamped Card, a performance by the MSO, the Mount Chorale and Pianist John Wickelgren. The all-Beethoven program will feature two major works, particularly the Fifth Symphony which premiered in 1808. Admission is free but you must have tickets to attend. Pitching in During winter break, 22 members of the Mount community spent some of their time-off traveling to Biloxi, Mississippi, volunteering time, skills and manpower to help a handicapped man and his son build a home.

Callings Conference March 6-8, 2008 On March 6 and 7 join local, national and international presenters for a look at the future of lay ministry. On March 8, the 10th Annual Central Maryland Formation Day explores the challenge of bringing the teachings of Christ to a new millennium.

Bicentennial Academic Symposium April 3, 2008, 7:00 p.m., Marion Burk Knott Auditorium Professor Patricia Hampl, Regents Professor, University of Minnesota, and author of numerous books including her newest book The Florist's Daughter, Romantic Education, Virgin Time, and Blue Arabesque will speak. Hampl has won many awards for her work, including a MacArthur Fellowship.

Mount 2008 Rocks the House! As a recent article in the Catholic Review stated, "It's not often seminarians are treated like rock stars, with the crowd drumming their feet on the bleachers and applauding."

Seminarians Celebrate Mardi Gras On February 5th, the Seminary Rec Room came alive in the purple, green and gold colors of Mardi Gras as 175 seminarians, faculty and staff gathered for a festive Fat Tuesday dinner.

Seminary Annual Fund Update The goal for the 2007-2008 Seminary Annual Fund is $300,000. As of February 1, 2008, the total dollars generated has reached the $200,000 mark. While ambitious, the goal is in sight. All gifts, no matter what amount, are appreciated. The fiscal year ends on June 30th - please participate! Msgr. Steven Rohlfs, Rector, the seminarians and faculty truly appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity of all benefactors - alumni, parents and friends.
