Bruté Medal

The Bruté Medal shall be presented as a recognition of the highest honor conferred upon an alumnus/a, who has distinguished himself/herself throughout their career, commitment to their community, to Mount St. Mary’s, or service to their fellow citizens, and whose recognition as a recipient of this award will bring honor to Mount St. Mary’s University.

The National Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the 43rd Annual Simon Bruté Medal - Dr. Daniel Monagle, Jr., C'58 and Mr. John R. Bransfield, Jr., C'63.

Dan Monagle, C'58

Retired manager, Analytical Sciences, Hercules, Inc., Wilmington, Del.; former assistant vice president, MBNA; past president, Delaware Chapter; past member, National Alumni Council; past member, Science and Math Advisory Council; class of 1958 representative, Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Jack Bransfield, C'63

Former president, Roslyn Savings Bank, Jericho, N.Y.; member, Board of Trustees St. Joseph College, Brooklyn; member, Board of Directors, Long Island Philharmonic; chairman, Tillis Center for Performing Arts, Brooklyn; cochair, Mount St. Mary’s Generations campaign.

Hall of Fame

Established by the National Alumni Association in 1972, the Sports Hall of Fame annually recognizes former Mount student athletes who “have exhibited athletic prowess of an outstanding nature in an intercollegiate sport.” For guidelines and a nomination form, click hereSee this year's inductees.

Distinguished Young Alumni Award

The National Alumni Association is proud to announce the recipients of the 2008 Distinguished Young Alumni Award: Fr. Rick Hilgartner, C'90 and Rob Weed, C'93. The awards were presented at the Class of 2008 Young Alumni Dinner on Wednesday, March 12, 2008.

The purpose of this award is to bring to the attention of the graduating senior class alumni who through hard work, perseverance and education have reached a high level of achievement in their chosen professions in less than 15 years since graduating from the Mount. The award also honors graduates who have brought honor and distinction to their Alma Mater by their success, interest and support of the Mount through the National Alumni Association.
