We are pleased to report that the Mount was spared any significant impact from Hurricane Irene. Members of the University’s leadership team were on campus early this morning for the most severe portions of the storm to make sure that our students, staff, and visitors stayed safe and dry. With the exception of a few isolated water leaks in one of our buildings, the campus infrastructure escaped relatively untouched.
The Mount Community can be reassured that the emergency team will be looking at the lessons learned from this event in order to make the community an even safer place to work, live and learn.

The Mount St Mary's University Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the progress of Hurricane Irene. Frederick County Emergency Management Officials are advising the University's emergency planners to continue to expect high winds and heavy rains from Saturday afternoon through mid-day Sunday.
The University is ensuring that sufficient Public Safety and Physical Plant staff are scheduled throughout the weekend in anticipation of the approaching storm. University leadership will be on campus throughout the day to monitor conditions.
In the interest of safety, University officials have made adjustments to off-campus student activities for tonight and tomorrow. At this time, most on-campus activity schedules for today are expected to remain unchanged.
The Mount community can be assured that, as always, University officials remain committed to protecting our students, staff, and visitors throughout this weather event and are taking the steps necessary to ensure the safety of the entire Mount family.
