Transfer Students

Transfer students are a welcome addition to Mount St. Mary’s University. Transfer students are eligible for admission for either the fall or spring semester.  Students wishing to transfer should keep in mind that at least half of the requirements in their major and minor fields of study as well as certain core curriculum requirements must be completed at the Mount. Usually, no more than 60 credits will be transferred from a community college. The Mount has articulation agreements with Frederick Community College, Hagerstown Community College, and Harrisburg Area Community College that allow students to transfer up to 75 credits to the Mount.

Transfer students should submit all application materials by June 1st for fall semester admission and by December 1st for spring semester admission. Generally, transfers should have a minimum cumulative grade average of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, although each application is reviewed individually.

An application for transfer admission should include:

  • A completed application (apply online)
  • $35.00 application fee
  • Final official copy of your secondary school transcript
(waived for those out of high school for 10 or more years)
  • Official transcript from all colleges or universities attended
  • At least one recommendation from a professor who taught you an academic course during the last two academic years.

The Mount awards selected full-time transfer students a variety of academic scholarships worth up to $8,000 annually. These awards are offered to students who have demonstrated a high level of performance during their academic careers. If you plan to apply for financial assistance, you should click here for more information and to download necessary applications.

Transfer students are strongly encouraged to visit campus during the application process.  Tours of campus are available daily and appointments can be made with the transfer counselor to discuss specific questions about transferring to Mount St. Mary's. Please call 1-800-448-4347 to make an appointment.
