Financial Aid Applications
Instructions and Deadlines In order to be considered for need-based financial aid first year undergraduate students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Mount St. Mary's Financial Aid Application. You are encouraged to complete both applications online. If you are not able to apply online, instructions on how to obtain paper applications follow. Returning students as well as all graduate and non-traditional students need only to file the FAFSA application unless they have extenuating circumstances, such as a change in family income, educational expenses for younger siblings, etc. Students with these situations should also submit the MSM application. The University's priority deadline to receive both applications is March 1. In order to meet this deadline, families should submit their FAFSA not later than February 15. Maryland residents must file the FAFSA so that it is received by March 1 to be eligible for state funds. (NOTE: The instructions below are for the 2010-11 academic year. Students applying for aid for the Spring 2011 semester should complete the 2009-10 FAFSA and contact the Financial Aid office directly with any extenuating circumstances.) FAFSA Apply online after January 1, 2011. Mount St. Mary's Title IV School Code is 002086. Download a paper application or call 1-800-4FEDAID to request that an application be mailed to you. The paper form must be completed and mailed to the processing center. Processing time for paper FAFSA's can be up to 3-4 weeks; thus, you should submit the form no later than February 1.
