Mount Ambassadors are the true face of the University, offering their unique perspective to visitors and telling them the Mount story. Mount Ambassadors serve a vital role to the success of Mount St. Mary's University and the Office of Admissions.
There are approximately 65 ambassador positions available each year. This volunteer leadership position is one of elite status requiring a high standard of commitment and a selective application process.
Promote and personalize Mount St. Mary's University by making visitors feel welcome, comfortable and positive about the Mount by demonstrating sincerity, enthusiasm, credibility, interest and helpfulness.
Inform prospective students and parents interested in the Mount about its mission, academic program, faculty, students, physical features, social opportunities, and student services.
Reflect the mission of Mount St. Mary's University through personal stories shared with families.
Serve as student leaders while obtaining responsibilities and skills necessary for life after college
Conduct daily and Sunday tours, which should be at least 45 minutes long (main campus) or 1:15 (includes PNC Sports Complex) long.
Conduct tours for our specials groups which come onto campus.
Give presentations as needed.
Actively attend monthly meetings with Ambassador Coordinators and Associate Director of Admissions which will include continual training sessions.
Participate in the scheduled Admissions Office weekend events such as open houses, preview events, Accepted Students Day, and special programs
Unparalleled experience in public relations which develops the skills and confidence vital to success in job interviews and careers.
Being part of a dynamic, highly visible, select organization.
Opportunity to work with and learn from college professionals in recruitment, marketing, and public relations.
Extend Mount hospitality and information to a wide variety of visitors, most often prospective high school students and their families.
Network with campus officials, faculty, administration, staff and alumni that can serve as references/job referrals upon graduation.
Dedication to the Mount Ambassador program and a monthly time commitment of approximately 3-5 hours.

Strong oral communication skills, social personality, and the ability to speak in front of large groups.
Ability to make a positive first impression and work well with others.
Minimum of a 2.5 GPA and be a full-time student with, at least, one year completed at the Mount (one semester completed at the Mount for transfer students).
Students who are on academic or disciplinary probation are not eligible to apply.
Available for mandatory fall training which is planned for Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and a CRUX adventure on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 from 11-2 p.m.
Online applications are due by noon on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.
Qualified candidates may be contacted for individual interviews during the week of February 13, 2017. The purpose of the interview is to give the selection team an opportunity to get to know candidates they are unfamiliar with. If the selction team believes they can make a decision on a candidate without interviewing that person, they will not be invited for an interview.
Candidates will be notified by Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 of the decisions made by the selection team.
New ambassadors must attend the Saturday, April 29, 2017 Preview Event and shadow a current ambassador during the tour.
