Third Century Scholarship

Through generous support of alumni and friends of Mount St. Mary's, the University is offering financial support to one (1) freshman joining the Mount family in the fall of 2014.

  • One half, $20,000 per year, is provided through the Third Century Scholarship, a program established and funded through benevolent donors.
  • Mount St. Mary's is matching these contributions by offering $20,000 in University scholarships and grants per year.
  • Mount St. Mary's will also contribute $1,000 towards the cost of textbooks.
  • In addition to the $41,000 (including book support) from Mount St. Mary's, students are eligible to receive federal aid, and when appropriate, state grants to help offset the remaining costs. The Federal Pell Grant can range from $400 to $5,500 with the amount determined by the student's FAFSA. Maryland residents are eligible to receive the Rawlings Educational Access Grant and may apply for additional state aid, including Senatorial and Delegate Scholarships.
  • Students are also eligible to receive any private/outside scholarships on top of their other aid, provided their total financial aid does not exceed the cost of attendance.

The Third Century Scholars Program assists low-income, underrepresented students from the Washington, D.C. metro area to obtain a college degree. The program provides financial support, as well as mentoring and social support, to help students succeed in earning a bachelor's degree at Mount St. Mary's University.

All applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2014. You will be notified by email when your complete Third Century Scholarship application file has been received. Please be sure to provide your preferred email address on your application.
