The financial aid office has received information on the following outside scholarships. Below are requirements, if any, for each scholarship as well as details on how to apply. If you have questions about any of the items listed, please contact us and we will try to answer them.

Stay Fit In College Scholarship:

StayFitInCollege.org, which promotes fitness in college, has just announced scholarship awards for the 2012/2013 academic year.
Any student that attends a university, community college, or even a technical/trade college may apply for the scholarship award.

The monthly application deadline is on the 7th of each month for this $700 scholarship. Prospective student applicants can visit the Stay Fit In College Scholarship website to find out more.

Eligibility: Full-time student
Amount of Scholarship: $700
Due Date: Monthly on the 7th

Clean Edison Scholarship

CleanEdison is looking for a bright young scholar to write a 750 word essay on the growth of the clean energy and energy efficiency sectors, the effects this will have on job creation and the need for skills training to meet this demand. The essays will be evaluated on the quality of writing and depth of research on the topic. The winning essay will be showcased on CleanEdison's website for one year and the student will receive a $500 scholarship.

Eligibility: Full-time students age 17-23
Amount of Scholarship: $500

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultant Scholarship

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 6th year. They award up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.
To apply for this scholarship students need to write an essay on the topic below:

  • What have you done outside the classroom that demonstrates qualities sought after by the post secondary institution that you are hoping to attend? Also, which of these qualities means the most to you?

Eligibility: high school juniors and seniors, and all currently registered students
Amount of Scholarship: up to $1000
Due Date: June 14, 2013
Essay Length:
500-1000 words

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization proudly helps young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits by offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Eligibility: The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community
Amount of Scholarship: $500.00
Due Date: 
June 21, 2013

HubShout Internet Marketing Scholarship

HubShout Online Marketing Solutions has an Internet marketing scholarship designed to help students who are on the path to any type of technical, business or marketing career involving online marketing. Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, have at least a 3.0 GPA and are working toward a career in business or marketing are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility: Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and have at least a 3.0 GPA
Amount of Scholarship: $1000
Due Date: November 30 (rolling deadline)

This scholarship is ongoing and will accept applications at any time. The applications received by November 30 will be reviewed and 3 scholarships will be awarded in December. Please visit the HubShout Website for details.

The Timothy J. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship

The Timothy J. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student who intends to enter a field that will assist or advocate for people with disabilities.

Eligibility: Must be a Carroll County resident and must be accepted for admission or be currently attending as a full-time student.
Amount of Scholarship: $1000
Due Date: April 1, 2013

The B. Davis Scholarship

The creators of the “Student Award Search Aid” website are renewing the scholarship for 2013.

The Krill Oil Educate Your Heart Program

Everest Nutrition’s Krill Oil will be giving $1,000 to two students, pursuing further education beyond a high school level, as part of the ‘Krill Oil - Educate Your Heart’ program!

Interested participants must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility: any student currently enrolled in the Fall 2013 term at any college, university, trade or technical school within the United States or Canada; Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or the equivalent); 16 years or older at the time of enrollment; and must be an American or Canadian citizen or hold a valid student visa.
Amount of Scholarship: $1,000
Due Date:
July 5, 2013

Eligible students must submit an essay written around one of the two following questions: 
How has the importance of heart health impacted you, your family, or your community?
How can an individual change his or her lifestyle to promote a healthy heart and holistic well-being?

The top two essays will be chosen based on originality and creativity, but must also include:

  • A title.

  • A minimum of 500 words in length with a maximum of 1,000.

  • Proper citation of any and all research material used.

Each applicant may only submit one essay per term for consideration. Submissions should be sent via e-mail along with a cover letter including: legal name, mailing address, telephone number, a brief biography and the name of the school the applicant will be enrolled in for the Fall 2013 semester to Sandra.Goldstein@krilloil.com.
The deadline for essay submissions is Friday, July 5, 2013.

Winners will be announced Friday, July 19th, 2013 on the krilloil.com scholarship page.

The AES Scholarship Award

The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.

To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on the AES Engineering Solutions website.

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Eligibility: answer one of the essay questions
Amount of Scholarship: $500
Due Date:
October 4, 2013
Essay Length: 500-1000 words

The Cynthia E. Morgan Scholarship Fund

Applications are now being accepted for the Cynthia E. Morgan Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship awards $1,000 to a Maryland high school or college student who is a first-generation college student, and attending (or will attend) a Maryland college (or medical school) with a major in a medical-related field.

Eligibility: first-generation college student; Maryland resident attending, or will attend a Maryland school; medical related major.
Amount of Scholarship: $1,000

MassMutual Scholars Program

Massachusetts Mutual Life Company (MassMutual) is pleased to announce that its MassMutual Scholars Program will be providing scholarships for the 2013-14 school year. This is a national scholarship program for high-achieving college students of African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic descent interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industry.

This year, the program will offer up to $150,000 in college scholarships to high-achieving students across the country.

Eligible students of all majors will be considered who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior, or 5th year senior year in pursuit of an undergraduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university and are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry.

Eligibility: Full-time multicultural sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry
Amount of Scholarship: up to $5,000
Due Date:
May 3, 2013

The Impact a Life Scholarship

The "Impact a Life" scholarship is a challenge to the future leaders of America to provide creative ideas and solutions to serve their community, church or service organization through charitable acts of volunteerism. A – Z Printing, one of the nations leading producers of custom printed raffle tickets, is offering a $1000 scholarship to a college student who writes the best essay they receive to help defray the expenses of tuition and books.

Eligibility: College students 18 years and older, enrolled in the 2013 calendar year; U.S. citizen.
Amount of Scholarship: $1000
Due Date:
December 31, 2013
Essay Length: 500 – 1000 words

The Dr. J Elmer Harp Medical Center Scholarships

The Dr. J. Elmer Harp Family Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to two (2) applicants pursuing studies in the medical field and are valued at $9,000 each for the 2013 award cycle.

The Gloria M. “Stretch” Grossnickle Scholarship Fund will award one (1) applicant pursuing studies in the medical field a scholarship valued at $9,000 for the 2013 award cycle.

Eligibility: College student or senior in high school; pursuing medical studies, must reside in the Middletown Valley geographic area
Amount of Scholarship: $9,000
Due Date: received by March 31, 2013
