Assistant Professor of Spanish Literature (Job Search Status: Currently Accepting Resumes)
The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures at Mount St. Mary's University seeks an outstanding teacher-scholar for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) beginning August 2014. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph. D in Spanish Literature, with a research and teaching specialty in pre-18th C literature, preferably medieval. The department is also interested in candidates with some training in Colonial Latin American literature, and the ability to teach an additional language is advantageous. Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential. In addition to courses within the specialization, candidates will also be asked to teach civilization/culture courses and/or language classes at all levels, and English-language humanities courses in the Veritas Program, the university's common liberal arts curriculum. Normal teaching load is seven courses per year. ABD candidates will be considered.
