Admissions Counselor (Job Search Status: Currently Accepting Resumes)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Admissions Counselor is an entry-level position that participates in all the undergraduate recruitment activities of the Admissions Office.

MAJOR TASKS:

  1. Responsible for contacting and visiting high school counselors and students within a specific geographic area to meet with students and counselors to promote the university.
  2. Responsible for representing the university at college nights and college fairs in selected geographic areas.
  3. To be creative and self-motivated, and capable of generating their own inquiries and applications; and ensuring that all individuals interested in the University are provided with the best customer service possible.
  4. Plans, coordinates, and executes diverse recruiting/outreach events (i.e., Open House Programs, Financial Aid Programs, Information Sessions, etc.).
  5. Participate in the review and evaluation of applicants for admission to the university.
  6. Responsible for conducting individual on-campus interviews with prospective students and their parents.
  7. Along with other Admissions Officers, work as a team player to develop and implement new strategies to attract high-quality applicants.

MINOR TASKS:

  1. Conduct correspondence with prospective students and other audiences as appropriate.
  2. Assist with general administrative responsibilities for the Admissions Office.
  3. Keep current on all aspects of the Mount, especially academic, social, religious, and athletic programs.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree with good communication and interpersonal skills. Should be able to relate to and work well with a diverse group of people, and to work well both independently and as part of a team. Candidate must be able to articulate the values of a liberal arts education in the Catholic tradition. A valid driver's license is required and candidate must be available for evening and weekend work as well as 8-10 weeks of overnight travel.
