The program provides financial support, as well as mentoring and social support, to help students succeed in earning a bachelor’s degree in business or education at Mount St. Mary’s University.
Financial Support Third Century Scholars receive Mount St. Mary’s University scholarships, other financial aid, federal grants and student loans that will cover the complete cost of attendance (tuition, room, board, fees and personal expenses) through graduation as long as they continue to make satisfactory progress toward their degree.

Community Support for Success Just as important, students in the program become part of a tightly knit learning community that will inspire them in their studies and future plans. Support includes:
- A summer orientation program
Year-round mentoring and academic advising from the program coordinator as well as the student’s faculty advisor Special enrichment events throughout the year An atmosphere that encourages students to challenge each other and create a positive learning environment Family involvement through family weekend activities, social activities throughout the school year and assistance with transportation home Career counseling, graduate school advising and summer academic options Transition services during semester breaks
Who May Apply? Highly motivated students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business or education Must have successfully completed a college prep curriculum with a B or better average and achieved SAT or ACT scores comparable to those of typical accepted Mount applicants Must be an ethnic minority student (U.S. citizen) residing or attending high school in the Washington, D.C., metro area Must demonstrate financial need—eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant Must plan to live on campus Open to individuals of all faiths
